Movie buffs were surprised a few weeks ago when Mammootty announced that his next movie Kaathal has Jyotika playing a crucial role along with him. The project has evoked curiousity among cinephiles as The Great Indian Kitchen fame Jeo Baby is at the helm of the fim.

Mammootty himself is producing the movie which commenced in Kochi a few weeks ago. Interestingly, it was the Mollywood megastar who suggested the Tamil actress' name to the filmmaker when he was in search of an actress to play the female lead in the project.

Film lovers are now elated with the news of Suriya visiting the location to meet the lead actors of Kaathal. A few pictures and videos of the Kollywood actor from the shooting spot have been doing the rounds. Many fans of the Jai Bhim star were surprised to meet him on the set and took selfies with him.

It looks like Suriya reached the location around lunch time; Mammootty, Suriya and Jyotika are seen having a meal together. The film's first look was unveiled on Jyotika's birthday in October, and Suriya took to Twitter to say that the idea behind the project had really impressed him. The movie is expected to hit the screens in 2023.

A couple of days ago, a still from Kaathal was leaked which did the rounds on social media. It featured Mammootty's photo on a flex board, hinting at his character contesting an election in the movie. Adarsh Sukumaran and Paulson Skaria have penned the screenplay for Kaathal which has Salu K Thomas handling cinematography.

The film marks Jyotika's comeback to Mollywood after a hiatus of more than a decade. She was earlier seen in Priyadarshan's Raakilipattu and TK Rajeev Kumar's Seetha Kalyanam.
