On June 14, 2020, Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead, hanging from the ceiling fan at his home in Bandra. As a result, many controversies, particularly those involving the Bollywood film industry, emerged. These debates are now just a distant memory. However, the owner is doing everything in his power to find a tenant for the unoccupied flat where he was found dead. However, due of its past, nobody wants to move into the house.
The Times Of India reported on Sunday, December 4 that the property has not yet found a tenant despite having a breathtaking view of the sea. Additionally, the buyers back off as soon as they learn that Sushant Singh Rajput passed away in this particular apartment.
It is a sea-facing duplex with four bedrooms and a patio that is situated on the sixth story of the Mont Blanc building in Bandra West, Mumbai.
Real estate broker and well-known influencer Rafique Merchant posted a collage of images of the apartment on his social media accounts yesterday, notifying his followers that it is available for rent for Rs. 5 lakhs per month. When asked by Bollywood Hungama exclusively if it was the same flat where Sushant Singh Rajput once lived, he responded in the yes.
He also revealed why it is difficult to find a taker, “People are scared to move into this flat. When prospective tenants would hear that this is the same apartment where he died, they would not even visit the flat. Nowadays, people are at least visiting the flat as the news of his death has become old. Yet, the deal is not getting finalized.”
Rafique Merchant continued saying that the owner is likewise stubborn and won't reduce the rent. It will be immediately sold if he does. Tenants would prefer to purchase another apartment of a comparable size in the same neighbourhood since it would not come with the baggage of controversy that this apartment is associated with because he is selling it at market value.
It's not surprising that the NRI owner of the apartment is suddenly hesitant to rent out his space to movie stars. Now, the owner doesn't want to rent out the flat to a film celeb, regardless of who or how big he or she is, according to Rafique Merchant. He makes it apparent that he wishes to give the apartment to a corporate party.
According to reports, Sushant had rented the apartment out since December 2019 for about 4.5 lakh per month. During the COVID-19 lockdown, he was staying in the apartment with his housemates and his girlfriend, the actor Rhea Chakraborty. The Enforcement Directorate and the Narcotics Control Bureau looked into the financial and drug-related aspects of the case while the Central Bureau of Investigation looked into Sushant's death.
