As teams are gearing up for the Super 12 of the T20 World Cup, nations that have already been qualified, are playing practice matches against each other. In one such game, a lethal yorker sent a batter to the hospital.
The incident took place during a T20 World Cup warm-up game between Pakistan and Afghanistan. The 2nd warm-up game between the two sides saw Pakistan pacer Shaheen Afridi make his much-awaited return after his knee injury.
In the game against Afghanistan, Shaheen struck twice in as many overs to give Pakistan a flying start. He went on to dismiss Afghanistan openers Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Hazratullah Zazai.
In fact, Shaheen bowled a toe-crushing yorker to Gurbaz, who was seen in immense pain after being struck on the left foot.
As the player did not move and was seen in pain, the play was stopped as the physios came out to check on Gurbaz. He was later carried off the field by a substitute fielder. It was later revealed that Gurbaz was taken to the hospital for scans.
Talking about the game, Afghanistan posted a total of 154 for six, with skipper Mohammad Nabi's scoring an unbeaten 51.
In reply, Pakistan was 19/0 in 2.2 overs, however, rain interrupted the proceedings and no game was played. The rain also interrupted the India vs New Zealand warm-up game.
