Taapsee Pannu’s Dobaaraa is the latest to bite the dust. The movie has registered only three percent occupancy on its opening day. Due to the same reason, many early morning shows have been cancelled.
Trade analyst Sumit Kadel took to Twitter to share that Dobaaraa opened to a disastrous Box Office collection. He revealed that the movie registered 2-3% occupancy.
Sumit further added nobody came to watch Dobaaraa in theatres. Owing to that, the early morning shows for the movie was cancelled.
While the low occupancy comes as a surprise, the early morning shows being cancelled is not too shocking. In a very recent event, Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha’s shows were also cancelled.
Theatre exhibitors usually decide if they would like to run a movie in their theatres or not. Since there is minimal to no occupancy, they usually resort to cancelling the shows to avoid incurring any further losses.
Unfortunately, Dobaaraa might just end up being Taapsee’s worst Box Office collection so far. Early reports state that the movie might have earned Rs. 20 lakhs net on opening day. Going by the current trend, it is also likely that the film might only be able to mint Rs. 1.25 crores lifetime collection.
Netizens have started the boycott trend which has created a storm on social media. It started with Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan and both the movies were affected at the Box Office. Responding to that, Taapsee and Anurag Kashyap pleaded the netizens to ban their film.
Dobaaraa is the Hindi remake of the Spanish film, Mirage. Released in 2018, the film received rave reviews and has now been adapted in Bollywood.
