He is currently the secretary of Gokuldham society, and this prediction threatens the very thing he is proud of. The news leaves everyone shocked, but Bhide is 'sit down to digest the news' level shocked.

Jethalal accuses Popatlal of trying to steal Bhide’s secretary chair

Jethalal questions who would be the secretary if not Bhide. Popatlal responds with, "Woh main...," and Jethalal assumes the journalist wants to take over Bhide's chair. Popatlal profusely says no but Jethalal accuses him of speaking his mind anyway. Bhide joins in the interrogation, but is currently using only expressions to convey what he wants to ask.
