Tamil star Sarath Kumar is the latest to join Ramaleela director Arun Gopy’s yet-to-be-titled action thriller, starring Dileep and Tamannaah in the lead. The film, which is scripted by Udaykrishna, is set to go on floors soon in Kochi.

Earlier, there were reports that the makers had tried to rope in Bollywood actor Neil Nitin Mukesh for a pivotal role in the movie. It’s not clear whether Sarath Kumar has been cast in the same role. The film marks his comeback in Malayalam after a gap of eight years. The Ponniyin Selvan: I actor’s previous Mollywood venture was Asha Black back in 2014.

The upcoming action thriller, which is Arun Gopy’s third directorial after Pranav Mohanlal’s Irupathiyonnaam Noottaandu, is a big-budget film that will be shot in Kochi, Ahmedabad, Mumbai and Jaipur. The team will wrap up its Kochi schedule in the next two months, before heading to shoot the other portions.

The film, which is extensively set outside Kerala, also marks Tamannaah’s debut Malayalam venture and will have her playing a character who speaks Hindi and Malayalam. Tamannaah’s most recent release is the Madhur Bhandarkar directorial Babli Bouncer, in which she plays a small-town girl who leaves for the city to make it big and becomes a renowned bouncer. The comedy drama is currently streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.

Meanwhile, Dileep is shooting for his other big-budget film Voice of Sathyanathan, which also had several schedules outside Kerala. The movie, helmed by Raffi, is currently being filmed in Rajasthan. It also has Anupam Kher, Jagapathi Babu, Joju George and Veena Nandakumar as part of the cast.

The film, which is touted to be an entertainer, has Dileep playing a furniture shop owner, who takes it upon himself to keep people happy. “Though it’s an entertainer, it also deals with a serious subject,” said the film’s director Raffi in an earlier interview with OTTplay. The movie is expected to be Dileep’s first theatrical release since the pandemic.
