OTT platforms have given opportunities to many yesteryear actors and now, Sonali Bendre is making a comeback to the screens with a web series, The Broken News . The ZEE5 show, also starring Shriya Pilgaonkar and Jaideep Ahlawat, is an original series by the OTT giant in association with BBC Studios India. Based on the BBC show, Press, the makers have released a teaser of the show recently.
The teaser shares a glimpse of the intense newsrooms of two TV channels - Awaaz Bharati, an independent, ethical news channel, and Josh 24/7 News, which offers sensationalist and invasive journalism. Both the channels, hosted by Sonali Bendre and Jaideep Ahlawat, are following a story of a prominent personality, Gulnaaz. The teaser looks promising and assures to offer some intense and thrilling drama.

The video was also shared on the social media handles of ZEE5. Sharing the official teaser, they wrote in the caption: "Abhi abhi khabar aayi hai ki your daily dose of breaking news will now be taken over by #TheBrokenNews, coming soon only on #ZEE5." Check out the post:
The story follows the lives, lies, loves and struggles of a group of journalists. The streaming giant had earlier announced the show in partnership with BBC with a video. Sharing the video, the makers had written: "What do you seek from your news, Sansani ya Sach?

Nimisha Pandey, chief content officer, Hindi originals, ZEE5, had earlier said in a statement that the story of the series is 'extremely relevant.' "It is a riveting drama depicting the nuances of the media houses and the daily hustle-bustle of a newsroom," she had said.
Meanwhile, the original UK series, Press, was created and written by award-winning writer Mike Bartlett, who is known for Doctor Foster and King Charles III. The show was airing on both BBC One in the UK and on PBS Masterpiece in the US in 2018 but it was set in a print newsroom rather than a TV newsroom.
