After the success of the latest season of The Family Man, the Amazon Prime Video franchise is surrounded by new possibilities. While its third season has already been confirmed, its creators Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK are rumoured to be considering a spin-off for Sharib Hashmi’s character JK.
While the show’s lead actor Manoj Bajpayee confirmed that it will take at least a couple of years for the third season to release, Sharib, in a recent interview, talked about the possibility of a spinoff show on his character.
The Filmistaan actor told Bollywood Spy, “I’m not sure about this, but if something like this happens, I'll be the happiest man on this Earth. Even if it doesn't happen, what Raj and DK have given me through The Family Man is more than enough.”
Furthermore, he added, “If JK's story were to end now, JK would die a peaceful death. Things changed for me, and I can’t thank them enough. They never treated JK like a sidekick, neither in the first season nor the second season. He has an identity of his own. He is his own man.”
Talking about the excitement and the amount of appreciation the show has received, in an interview with PTI, Sharib said, “The first season had set a benchmark for itself and it was an advantage for all of us. Personally, for season one I received a lot of love but this time the reaction has been crazy. This is happening for the first time in my career. I am on cloud nine. Things are out of control.”
Sharib started his career with a small role in Danny Boyle’s Oscar-winning directorial film Slumdog Millionaire in 2008. He played supporting roles in subsequent films and shows. The Family Man’s first season put him on the map and Sharib, last year, played a noted role as SBI employee Sharad Bellary in The Scam 1992.
All the seasons of The Family Man can be streamed on Amazon Prime Video.
