The most anticipated films of 2023

The year 2022 was a fantastic year for cinema with releases such as Everything Everywhere All At Once, Top Gun: Maverick, The Banshees of Inisherin, The Woman King, Prey, All Quiet on the Western Front, The Northman, The Batman, and more. The forthcoming year could be even bigger and better with exciting and highly anticipated projects. So for today’s List hai toh hit hai podcast we take a look at some of the most anticipated films of 2023.

Dune: Part 2

Denis Villeneuve’s 2021 film Dune, an adaptation of Frank Herbert’s iconic space odyssey novel exceeded expectations and is revered as one of the best films in recent years winning six Academy Awards. The sequel is expected to be bigger in scale, scope and execution with Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Zendaya, Stellan Skarsgård, and Javier Bardem set to reprise their roles along with new cast members including Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, and Christopher Walken.

Oppenheimer

Acclaimed filmmaker Christopher Nolan is set to release the biographical film about renowned nuclear physicist, often referred to as the Father of the Atomic Bomb, J. Robert Oppenheimer. The film features one of the largest ensemble of acclaimed actors and is expected to shatter box office records. Acclaimed Irish actor Cillian Murphy, who is best known for his role in Peaky Blinders as well as in other Christopher Nolan films, will essay the titular character.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny

Hollywood veteran Harrison Ford will don the hat and whip of the legendary treasure hunter Indiana Jones for one last adventure. The fifth installment of the Indiana Jones franchise will feature Fleabag star Phoebe Waller-Bridge as Indie’s goddaughter Helena. Walk the Line and Logan director James Mangold is helming the project.

Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning - Part One

After the incredible success of Top Gun: Maverick, Tom Cruise will hope to continue his hot streak at the box office with yet another blockbuster hit. Christopher Macquire is returning to helm the project and the film will be the first of two parts of the seventh installment of the Mission: Impossible franchise. The two part film is expected to be Tom Cruise’s final outing as secret agent Ethan Hunt.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts

The second installment of the rebooted Transformers franchise will focus on the war between Autobots and Deceptecons in the 90s where Maximals, Predacons and Terrorcons join the battle on Earth. The film will be a spin-off to the 2018 film Bumblebee.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

After several delays and various changes to the original project the third film of Guardians of the Galaxy is finally set to hit the big screens. James Gunn, the new head of DC films is helming this project, and it could be his last project with Disney and Marvel as he prepares to chart out a 10-year plan for Marvel’s rivals DC. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will see the original cast reprising their roles with Will Poulter set to play Adam Warlock.

The Flash

No other film in recent years has undergone so many changes to its production as The Flash. From changes to its story, to writers and directors the film has been in production limbo for years. In addition to all the drama surrounding the production, the film’s lead actor Ezra Miller was involved in several altercations with the law which put the film’s release in doubt. However, Warner Bros. Discovery and DC are going ahead with the release which will focus on the DC superhero Flash as he travels across the multiverse. Directed by Andy Muschietti, the film will also star Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck essaying two versions of Batman from parallel universes.
