Joel Coen’s adaptation of the tragedy of king Macbeth’s misguided journey to the throne is gearing up for its release soon. The makers of The Tragedy Of Macbeth have unveiled its latest trailer, full of dark and ominous imagery to signal at the king’s impending doom.

The trailer opens with some baleful shots of black birds circling grey skies and a dialogue from the three sinister witches who set in motion the events that lead to Macbeth’s terrible deeds. Viewers also get to see the titular king, crown and all, and Lady Macbeth as well. As her desire to see her husband thrive becomes poisoned by her vicious ambition, Macbeth starts to commit violent acts of betrayal spurred on by his wife’s words. But his actions catch up with him soon enough as he is slowly driven to madness by the weight of his actions.

The upcoming film is the latest adaptation of the Shakespearean tragedy which revolves around the titular Scottish king, whose ascend to the throne was foretold by witches. But his heavily unwise ascend to the throne, influenced by his wife, comes at a great cost as he starts to lose his sanity.

The film stars Denzel Washington and Frances McDormand as the Lord and Lady Macbeth respectively. The film also features Corey Hawkins, Moses Ingram, Brendan Gleeson, and Harry Melling among others. The black and white film will be Joel Coen’s first directorial without his brother. The film has on A24 as the production banner.

The Tragedy Of Macbeth will be available to stream on Apple TV+ from January 14. The film had had a limited theatrical release last month.
