Witness a glimpse into the magical and blood soaked beginnings of the most mystical of monster hunters, years before the events of The Witcher. The Witcher: Blood Origins recently unveiled its teaser, which shows an ancient Elven civilisation in all its glory.
The teaser follows the arduous journey of a trio of Elves, Éile, Fjall and Scian. Éile is a warrior who served as trusted protector to her clan’s queen, abandoning her post to travel the world and become a musician, and she is joined in her journey by Fjall, another warrior. Scian joins the two with a mission in mind, to retrieve a sacred sword that was stolen. As the three make their way across vast lands, they come face to face with an array of dangers against which they must defend themselves by the power of their swords.
The Witcher: Blood Origin is set almost 1200 years before the events of Henry Cavill’s The Witcher, and will explore the origin story of the titular monster hunters. It will also trace the events that led to a world where monsters, humans and elves crossed paths. The second season of the original series had aired on Netflix recently.
Sophia Brown, Laurence O’Fuarain and Shang-Chi star Michelle Yeoh play Éile, Fjall and Scian, respectively. The six-part limited series also features Mirren Mack, Lenny Henry, Jacob Collins Levy, Lizzie Annis, Huw Novelli, Francesca Mills, Amy Murray, Nathaniel Curtis, Zach Wyatt and Dylan Moran. Declan de Barra serves as showrunner on the upcoming show. The series wrapped up filming last month.
The Witcher: Blood Origin is slated to premiere on Netflix sometime in 2022.
