Thor - Love and Thunder: Natalie Portman returns to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as female Thor

Natalie Portman returns to the Marvel Cinematic Universe after a hiatus and she's more powerful than ever in the first teaser for Thor: Love and Thunder.

Taika Waititi, who directed the well-received Thor: Ragnarok, will direct the fourth installment in the Thor series. The film follows the story from Avengers: Endgame, which left Thor Odinson (Chris Hemsworth) stranded following the destruction of his country Asgard. This left planet Earth under the rule of the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Previously, Natalie played a human scientist Jane Foster and she will now be seen as the Goddess of Thunder. Additional Marvel characters make appearances in Love and Thunder, most notably Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, who hasn't featured in an MCU film since Thor: The Dark World. At the end of the recently released teaser, Portman appears fully dressed as Thor, complete with crimson cloak, winged helmet and the hammer.

Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), who was originally seen in Ragnarok, will also make a return. Furthermore, because the Avengers: Endgame conclusion left Thor with the Guardians of the Galaxy, those characters will be in the film as well.

Melissa McCarthy and her husband Ben Falcone are reportedly set to feature in cameo roles. Jenny Morris and Simon Russell Beale have been cast in the film in unspecified roles. Jaimie Alexander, Sean Gunn and Jeff Goldblum are also returning to the MCU.

Taika Waititi and Jennifer Kaytin Robinson teamed up on the script. Kevin Feige and Brad Winderbaum are producing the film under Marvel Studios. The movie was shot in Sydney, Australia last year. It was postponed many times owing to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Thor: Love and Thunder will release in theatres on July 8.After its theatrical run, the movie is likely to be available on Disney+ Hotstar.
