Back when the first two direct-to-OTT Kannada movies from PRK Productions– Law and French Biryani – released, it was widely speculated that the late Puneeth Rajkumar had struck a deal with streaming platform Amazon Prime Video to produce exclusive content for them.
In the time since, the actor’s banner had announced four films, three of which we now hear will soon head to OTT. According to reports in Gandhinagar circles, Man of the Match, 1 Cut 2 Cut and Family Pack are the projects that are ready and will release directly on Prime Video shortly. There is no official release schedule yet, but the films are expected to hit the platform soon.
Man of the Match is the banner’s first collaboration with Rama Rama Re maker D Satya Prakash. The film, according to Satya, is a fun take on a contemporary issue, which he shot at a single location. Man of the Match is a film that Satya made as an interim project, as a proposed collaboration with Puneeth as an actor could not be worked out during the pandemic, given that it would require a much bigger setting.
1 Cut 2 Cut is Puneeth’s second collaboration with funnyman Danish Sait, after their earlier French Biryani. While Danish brough one of his avatars, Asgar to French Biryani, for 1 Cut 2 Cut, which is Vamsidhar Bhogaraju’s directorial, it is Gopi that gets a full-length feature film. Danish’s much-loved social media avatar is an arts and crafts teacher in the film, and follows the tale as his life is turned upside down.
Family Pack, meanwhile, is a reunion for director Arjun Kumar S and lead actor Likith Shetty, who had earlier made Sankashta Kara Ganapati. Much like their earlier film, Arjun and Likith promise an out-and-out comedy with Family Pack as well. The film also stars Amrutha Iyengar, Rangayana Raghu, Tilak, Dattanna, Achyuth Kumar, Padmaja Rao, Nagabhushan, Chandu Gowda, among many others.
