It is known that Suriya and Bala are teaming up for a movie. The announcement on the same was made a few months ago by the actor on his Twitter page. He had also posted a picture of him, along with his father Sivakumar and Bala posing for a photo.

Suriya was excited to join hands with his favourite filmmaker again with whom he worked for acclaimed projects like Nandha and Pithamagan, which catapulted him as a bankable actor in Tamil. It was also said that their reunion film will be bankrolled by the actor's home banner 2D Productions.

It is now heard that Tollywood actress Krithi Shetty who rose to fame with Uppena (streaming on Netflix) will be seen playing a significant role in the movie. The movie is likely to go on floors in Rameswaram from the beginning of April. An update on the untitled project's cast and crew is expected soon.

Bala's last outing was Varma, the initially shelved remake of Arjun Reddy, which was revived and released directly on OTT later after the producer expressed disappointment over the project. The filmmaker is now producing Visithiran, the remake of Malayalam movie Joseph. The RK Suresh-starrer will hit the screens on May 20.

It was expected that Suriya will start shooting for Vetri Maaran's ambitious movie Vaadivasal after the release of the former's Etharkkum Thunindhavan. It looks like the former will go on floors only after Bala's movie gets completed.

Vetri Maaran, who last made the award winning film Asuran (streaming on Amazon Prime Video), is ready with his next, Viduthalai, starring Soori and Vijay Sethupathi in lead roles. Vaadivasal was earlier considered as a 2022 release. It has to be seen if the makers still have plans to release it this year.
