Hot Fuzz (2007)

This British comedy-action film follows a plot of a dynamic partnership between a police officer, Nicholas Angel, played by Simon Pegg, and his lazy comrade Danny Butterman, played by Nick Frost. Nicholas gets transferred to the sleepy small town of Sandford, thanks to his envious colleagues. When there are a series of murders in the town Nicholas and Danny step into action. The film is packed with fun and action that was a hit, and is a must watch!

Bad boys

An awesome pick for a buddy cop action film that stars Martin Lawrence and Will Smith. The story follows two detectives who are assigned to investigate a case in which drugs are stolen from an evidence locker within their jurisdiction. The duo must race against time to find the culprits, failing which their department goes at risk of being shut down. The movie is jam-packed with good action and great hilarity between its two lead actors. This movie followed with two sequels, where Lawrence and Smith reprised their roles.

Rush Hour

Who can ignore the Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker buddy combo? This also turned Rush Hour into a global franchise! This American action comedy film revolves around Hong Kong Police detective Lee and his charismatic witty LAPD partner James Carter, who are assigned to rescue the abducted daughter of a Chinese diplomat. The amazing bromance between Chan and Tucker is something you should not miss.

The Heat

What happens when two opposites meet? It results in chaos, isn't it?. The same is the case with Sarah Ashburn, a no-nonsense FBI agent and her loud associate Shannon Mullins. Both decide to keep aside their personal differences and team up together in bringing down a drug dealer. This 2013 action comedy film is a perfect example of a women-centric buddy action movie, starring Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy in the lead roles.

21 Jump Street

This buddy cop action movie is a soft reboot of Johnny Depp’s Television series of the same name that follows the story of two police associates Morton Schmidt and Greg Jenko, a nerd and popular jock respectively in their old high school. They find their roles reversed in the later part, leading to stress on their friendship and endangering their mission. Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum play the roles of Schmidt and Jenko. After the success of this 2012 movie, a sequel in 2014 followed titled 22 Jump Street.

48 Hrs

48 Hrs is undoubtedly a crazy yet funny buddy cop action movie that includes Eddie Murphy as Reggie Hammond and Nick Nolte as Inspector Jack Cates. There is no other way for Cates but to team up with the temporarily paroled, arrogant Hammond to track down two killers within 48 hours. This action flick of the 80s was also Eddie Murphy’s debut as an actor.

Men in Black

A perfect entertainer from start to finish and why not? It boasts a star cast of Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith and their terrific chemistry. The story includes NYPD detective James Edward joining a secret organisation called Men in Black to monitor extraterrestrial interventions on Earth. This Oscar-winning movie that later turned into a franchise is surely a binge-watch popcorn flick.

Lethal weapon

This iconic action movie spawned three sequels and television series after its huge success. Mel Gibson and Danny Glover play the roles of two mismatched cops Martin Riggs and Roger Murtaugh, who are forced to team together to bring down a gang of drug smugglers. The movie starts off on a serious note and later ends up being a fun film with plenty of action, drama, and humour. Truly a must-watch for action movie buffs.

An American comedy action movie set in the late 70s in Los Angeles is the story of two incompatible detectives who investigate a mysterious death of a porn star and the disappearance of a teenage girl. This movie stars Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling in main roles and is fast-paced which holds its audience until the end credits.

An action-comedy movie that includes a plot of two incompetent detectives from New York City who grab an opportunity to take action like the city’s top cops whom they idolise. But, chaos ensues when things don't go as they expect. The movie stars Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg in the buddy cop combo.The film is loaded with plenty of action and humour.
