The upcoming original series The Peripheral by Amazon will be done under the banner of Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy’s Kilter Films. Charlotte Riley, JJ Feild, Adelind Horan, T’Nia Miller and Alex Hernandez are cast as leads opposite Chloë Grace Moretz and Jack Reynor within the sci-fi thriller drama, based on William Gibson’s best-selling novel.
Created by Scott B. Smith, The Peripheral is expected to be a dazzling, hallucinatory glimpse into the fate of mankind and what lies beyond.
The Peripheral is one of the most inventive and satisfying science fiction of all time. The novel revolves around Flynne Fisher (Moretz) who lives in a remote village in rural parts of America where she takes care of her mother who is chronically ill and cannot hold down a job. She has a brother named Burton (Reynor) who suffers from glitches as a result of the military’s tinkering and is a veteran of the Marine Corps’ elite Haptic Recon force. He is hired for a security job where he thinks that it takes place in cyberspace but soon discovers that it might be closer to reality. He intimates with Flynne who is a gifted gamer to fill in for him where she witnesses a horrifying twist in the online game’s plot of possible murder.
Billings is expected to play the role of Detective Ainsley Lowbeer who is an ancient being who extended her life and youth artificially. The character is a transgender woman within the novel, so it’s nice to ascertain that they’ve appropriately cast a transgender actress within the role. She is a lead character who has a major deal of influence over the story and fans are curious to see how she will be brought to life on the small screen.
She joins Chloë Grace Moretz and Jack Reynor, who have already been announced to feature in the sci-fi thriller series.
