Udhayanidhi bags theatrical rights of Silambarasan, Gautham Menon's Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu

A few days ago, the makers of Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu had announced its theatrical release date as September 15. The family action drama, which brings together the popular trio of Silambarasan-Gautham Menon-AR Rahman, is riding on good expectations. Actor-politician Udhayanidhi's production house Red Giant Movies has acquired theatrical rights of the movie.

He announced the same through his Twitter page. The production house had bagged the distribution rights of a few notable projects this year, including Beast, Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal, Don and Vikram. Interestingly, they had distributed Silambarasan, Gautham Menon's first collaboration Vinnaithandi Varuvaya, too, in 2010.

Gautham expressed happiness on the same and posted on his Twitter page, "Thank you for coming on board and looking forward to the collaboration again (sic). Vels Films International has bankrolled the project which has Siddhi Idnani playing the female lead in it. 

Radhika Sarathkumar and Neeraj Madhav among others essay crucial characters in the film which has been shot primarily in Chennai, Mumbai and other locations. The makers have so far unveiled its first single and a teaser; its trailer is expected to be released in August.  

Siddhartha Nuni and Anthony have handled cinematography and editing respectively for Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu, which was initially titled Nadhigalile Neeradum Suriyan. Silambarasan had hired a trainer to shed a few kilos and to pull off some of the intense action sequences in the movie.

The movie went on floors an year ago during the second wave of the pandemic. Since Silambarasan's last outing Maanaadu went on to become a blockbuster, expectations surrounding the film is huge. Meanwhile, Maha, in which the actor has played a cameo, will be released later this month. Pathu Thala, which is slated for a theatrical release on December 14, will be another outing for the star this year.
