OTTplay recently informed you that owing to the rising COVID-19 cases, the makers of Valimai are sure to postpone the film till summer. Now, actress Huma Qureshi, who is also associated with Ajith’s film, has confirmed that the film has been postponed indefinitely, till the situation improves. It was an obvious decision since the theatres in Tamil Nadu have been shut down after various cases of Omicron were reported in the city.

“Given the steep rise in COVID infections across the globe and abiding by the regulations of the authority, we have decided to postpone the release of our film Valimai until the situation normalizes,” a part of the official statement released by the team read.

Interestingly, Valimai’s shooting wrapped up only a few days before the rise of Omicron cases in India and across the globe. It now remains to be seen whether the makers will wait for the theatres to open up or release their film on OTT.

The digital rights of the film remain with Zee5. Zee Studios is co-producing the pan-India film with Boney Kapoor. While primarily shot in Tamil, Valimai will be available in Hindi and Telugu languages too.

The H Vinoth directorial was slated to release in theatres on January 13. This comes as sad news for Ajith fans since the actor has not been able to release any movie since 2019. His last film was Nerkonda Paarvai, which was released in theatres before the rise of COVID-19 pandemic.
