Varun Dhawan is all set to unleash the animal within him, as he gears up for the release of his next film, Bhediya. The horror comedy marks the actor’s first collaboration with director Amar Kaushik. During the trailer launch event of the film, Varun opened up about his experience of working with the director.

Varun revealed that one of the first things Amar had told him was that the actor should not do any comedy at all in the film. The former recalled how he used to beg for punchlines from Amar, but the director refused to give into any of Varun’s requests. Amar told Varun that if the actor did comedy in the film, it would be hard for audiences to take him seriously.

Giving all the credit of his performance to Amar, Varun said “My performance hopefully lives upto his(Amar’s) expectations first. Because he has got a very high standard for performances. And he has worked with the likes of Rajkummar Rao and Ayushmann Khurrana before, who are very, very fine actors. I love both of them. So hopefully I can live upto them, in Amar’s eyes.

Amar said that Varun did indeed live upto his expectations, and Varun’s co-star Kriti Sanon chipped in to talk about how hard the actor had worked for the role. “I genuinely want to say that he has really worked very hard”, she said.

The actress went on to talk about how the director had asked Varun to get rid of his abs for the film. Kriti said “He’s(Varun) worked very hard, whether it was his look, his body, the animal flow stuff that he was doing. There’s a journey obviously a journey, of the character. And he was not doing anything else. So he was like Bhediya all the time."

Bhediya will be released in theatres on November 25.
