After the success of Paava Kadhaigal, Tamil anthology films have become increasingly popular. One such anthology is Venkat Prabhu’s Kasada Tabara, which is heading for a direct-to-digital release as reported by LetsOTT. This anthology series has been directed by Chimbu Devan.
Ventured jointly by Prabhu’s Black Ticket Company and R. Ravindran of Trident Arts, the anthology has been a long-delayed project that could not take off initially due to the unprecedented pandemic. This unique anthology is split into six episodes, with each episode boasting of a different style of direction and a new set of technicians.
The first look poster of the anthology features the tagline ‘Tales of South Madras’ and was released on Twitter by AR Murugadoss earlier this year. The poster also revealed that the cast of the anthology will include Harish Kalyan, Shathnu, Sundeep Kishan, Venkat Prabhu, Premgi Amaren, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Vijayalakshmi, and Regina Cassandra.
Six music directors have been brought on board for the project, as stated by director-composer Gangai Amaren, who is also Prabhu’s father. These directors include Yuvan Shankar Raja, Santhosh Narayanan, Sam CS, Sean Roldan, Premgi, and Ghibran.
With each episode consisting of a fresh panel of skilled professionals who will helm the story, six cinematographers were also announced for the film - Vijay Milton, MS Prabhu, Balasubramaniem, SR Kathiir, RD Rajashekar, and Sakthi Saravanan. The six editors include Anthony, Praveen KL, Vivek Harshan, Mu Kasi Viswanathan, Raja Mohammed, and Ruben.
SonyLIV has been expanding its catalogue by adding gripping titles like Maharani and the much-awaited Sunflower. Kasada Tabara is reported to make its premiere on the streamer in July.
