A freak accident on the set of director Vetri Maaran's Viduthalai recently claimed the life of one. Ace stuntman S Suresh (54) fell down after a rope snapped while performing a stunt sequence in the outskirts of Chennai. Though he was rushed to the hospital soon after the accident, he succumbed to the injuries. The incident has left the crew members in a state of shock.

Now the film's producers RS Infotainment have issued a statement in which they have shared a note about the incident. The statement reads, "It brings deep grief and misery to inform that our beloved stuntman N Suresh passed away due to an accident while shooting an action sequence for Viduthalai. Despite our complete safety and precautionary measures including a standby ambulance, we couldn't  save this pure soul. It's a huge loss to our entire team, which will be an unfading ache in our hearts and memories."

Stuntman Suresh was the assistant choreographer of the film. Yet another stuntman was said to be injured during the accident. Vetri Maaran's Viduthalai is a film adaptation of Jeyamohan's novel Thunaivan. While Soori plays the lead as a cop, Vijay Sethupathi appears as his mentor, who is affectionately addressed as Vaathiyar in the film. The shoot was canned in the interior forests of Sathyamangalam. The film will be made into two parts. While the shoot for the first part has been wrapped up, the second part is in full swing.

Music for the film is by Ilaiyaraaja marking Vetri Maaran's maiden collaboration with Ilaiyaraaja.  The star cast includes Prakash Raj, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Rajiv Menon and Chetan to name a few. While Velraj is handling the cinematography, Ramar is handling the editing. Peter Hein has choreographed the stunt sequences for the film. The first part is slated to release early next year and it is one of the most anticipated films of the year.
