Vikram Vedha makers Pushkar-Gayathri on casting Saif Ali Khan, Hrithik Roshan: ‘They were so involved in the script’

Fans have been eager to see the forthcoming Vikram Vedha, starring Saif Ali Khan and Hrithik Roshan, ever since it was announced. In the action thriller, directed by Pushkar and Gayathri, the Bollywood actors will portray the leads who face off against each other in a battle of wits.

Pushkar and Gayatri recently explained why they chose to cast Saif and Hrithik in the Bollywood remake of their Tamil film, starring R Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi. In an interview with Mid-Day, the filmmakers said, “At the outset, the producers and we were looking for the best possible actors for the roles. Naturally, Hrithik and Saif were the top choices. Both are generous actors and have a deep understanding of the craft. It was always about making the scene work. As actors, they were so involved in the script that we were all perfectly in sync.”

The teaser of the movie, which was released recently, was received well by fans and the directors said that they are “overwhelmed with the love and positivity” from the audience.

Radhika Apte, Rohit Saraf, Yogita Bihani, and Sharib Hashmi are also featured in the movie, which revolves around a formidable police officer who decides to find and punish an equally ferocious gangster. Hrithik portrays the thug Vedha, while Saif essays the role of police officer Vikram. The movie, which is produced by YNOT Studios, Friday Filmworks, T-Series Films and Reliance Entertainment, is set to hit theatres on September 30, 2022.
