First, we heard that Anup Bhandari’s most-awaited Sudeep-starrer 3D fantasy-action-drama Vikrant Rona is all of 135 minutes long and now comes the news that even the trailer, which will be released on June 23, has been kept tight and crisp. Amid rumours that Anup could present at 2-minute odd trailer, given that his Rangitaranga trailer was 2.45 minutes and that of Rajaratha 2.25 minutes, OTTplay checked out the Central Board of Film Certification site to know for sure.

While our first search yielded no results when we checked between June 1, 2022 and June 19, 2022, we struck jackpot on the second, when we widened the field. The sole entry for Vikrant Rona that turned up was for the trailer, submitted for certification on May 20,2022. And, according to this the trailer that Shalini Manjunath, who is listed as the producer of the film, has submitted a trailer that is only 1 minute and 53 minutes long for certification, which was granted a clean U bill. The teaser for the trailer is that ‘Once You Enter The Maze, Escape Is Not An Option’, well, if we barely have two minutes to try, then, perhaps, there is no getting out of this.

For a while now, netizens have been wondering whether the Vikrant Rona promotion plans are all going awry, given that the team does not release regular updates and has not been following the order on the tour map that they themselves released. But if the trailer censor date (a few days before the first song came out) is any indication, it appears that they have a strategy in place for the next 38 days or so.

The details on the censor certificate application also mention No Burj Khalifa. The film’s title reveal on the Burj Khalifa in Dubai was one of its earliest and biggest promotional activities, when the team announced that the ‘world was getting a new hero – Vikrant Rona’. Until then, the Sudeep film was called Phantom.
