Malayalam actor-director Vineeth Sreenivasan is set to star in Abhinav Sunder Nayak’s directorial debut. Sreenivasan, who has just completed production as director in the upcoming film Hridayam, is set to showcase his acting prowess in Nayak’s film.
The Assamese fantasy horror film, Aamis also known by its English title Ravening, completed its festival run recently and is premiering on the Sony Liv streaming platform today. The film directed by Bhaskar Hazarika, features new debutant Arghadeep Baruah in the lead role .
Denzel Washington and Frances McDormand’s brand new take on the Bard’s Macbeth has managed to score an impressive 100 percent rating on review aggregating website Rotten Tomatoes. Titled The Tragedy of Macbeth, the Joel Coen directorial sees Washington step into the shoes of the tragic hero whose ambition for the Scottish throne made him commit regicide. The film had its world premiere at the 2021 New York Film Festival and is slated to debut on Apple TV+ on January 14 next year.
Suniel Shetty is foraying into the digital realm with the web series Invisible Woman. Billed as a noir thriller, the project is bankrolled by Yodlee Films, which has previously backed Axone and Kanpuriye, among other films. The series will also feature Esha Gupta in the lead. Shetty was last seen in Sanjay Gupta’s gangster film Mumbai Saga, before which he starred in a string of South movies, including Rajinikanth’s Tamil Blockbuster Darbaar, the Telugu movie Mosagallu,and the Kannada sports drama Pailwaan.
Scarlett Johansson, Disney Settle Explosive Black Widow Lawsuit
Scarlett Johansson and Disney have finally reached a settlement on the long-standing Black Widow payday. The actress said she’s “happy to have resolved her differences with Disney,” two months after she filed a lawsuit against the company, claiming that the premiere of Black Widow on Disney+ had stripped her of potential revenue for its theatrical release. In response, the studio revealed the actress was paid a sum of $20 million as remuneration for the film.
Sam Raimi was unsure of helming Doctor Strange 2
Sam Raimi was unsure about helming a superhero movie again after the debacle of Spider-Man 3 in 2007. The director, who is steering MCU’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, has opened up in an interview to The Hollywood Reporter about the backlash he received upon the film’s release. “The internet was getting revved up and people disliked that movie and they sure let me know about it. So, it was difficult to take back on,” he revealed. However, when the opportunity presented itself to direct the Doctor Strange sequel, he finally gave in.
