Vishal's upcoming film Laththi is all set to release on August 12. Vishal announced the news on his social media page that the film will hit screens in August. The film is directed by debutant Vinoth Kumar and has Sunainaa plays the leading lady in it. Vishal wrote on his microblogging page, "Get ready to witness #Laththi in theatres worldwide from #August12th 2022. Stay tuned for my Chapter Of #Enmity. #LaththiCharge #LaththiFromAug12 @_RanaProduction @dir_vinothkumar @actorramanaa @nandaa_actor @balasubramaniem @PeterHeinOffl @thisisysr @DOP_bala @TheSunainaa (sic)."The film is also releasing in Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi.

The plot of the film revolves around a cop, who gets trapped in a building with a child as he is surrounded by his enemies everywhere. Interestingly, this is the first time that Vishal is playing a slightly elderly character in the film. The shoot for the film has been wrapped up and post production is going in full swing. Music for the film is by Yuvan Shankar Raja.

The penultimate schedule for the film was wrapped up earlier in April in Hyderabad. The director had then shared on his social media page, "Anddd it’s a wrap!!! for #Laththi from the sets of #Hyderabad. The second part of the #FinalSchedule will commence from April 24th in #Chennai. #LaththiCharge #ChapterOfEnmity #FinalSchedule @VishalKOfficial @_RanaProduction @actorramanaa @nandaa_actor @thisisysr (sic)."Balasubramaniem has cranked the camera and Pon Parthiepan has penned the dialogues. Srikanth NB and Vasuki Bhaskar are in charge of the project's editing and costume designing respectively. Interestingly, Sunainaa and Vishal had earlier teamed up for Samar.

Vishal is also working on Thupparivaalan 2, which will mark his directorial debut. The film is a sequel to Mysskin's investigative thriller Thupparivalan. Though Mysskin was supposed to direct the sequel as well, he walked out of the project due to creative differences. The film also stars Prasanna, Nikki Galrani, Rahman, Nassar, Jayaprakash and Gautami. Sunainaa, on the other hand, has Regina directed by Domin D'silva and Eriyum Kannadi directed by R Kannan.
