The Kashmir Files filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri has recently been addressing the several issues that have been plaguing Bollywood. Fewer Hindi movies have been financially successful in the past year compared to the past. However, Vivek's own movie had been one of the year's major successes.

The director tweeted on Friday about how Bollywood can improve matters in response to the successful National Cinema Day.

On September 23, movie theatres across India honoured National Cinema Day. Majority of theatres lowered the cost of admission to Rs 75. Trade expert Taran Adarsh had tweeted a photo of a packed theatre from outside the venue, with the caption, “The tremendous response on #NationalCinemaDay2022 should act as an eye-opener for Studios / distributors / exhibitors and the film fraternity in general about the importance of *affordable ticket rates*... IT'S HIGH TIME WE SLASH TICKET PRICES TO INCREASE FOOTFALLS."

In response, Vivek shared his plan for bringing Bollywood back. He tweeted, “Less price. Less arrogance. Less star fees. Less wastage on PR & airport looks. More research. More content. More Bharat. Simple solution for Bollywood’s resurrection.”

On National Cinema Day, all films saw a significant boost in attendance as a result of the discounted ticket price. Brahmastra made Rs 11 crore on its third Friday, while Chup and Dhoka also had strong premieres.

Vivek's The Kashmir Files, which had a budget of just Rs 15 crore and was done without any major stars, generated over Rs 350 crore worldwide. The movie continued to smash box office records and briefly held the title of highest-grossing Hindi movie of 2022. It competed with Bachchhan Pandaay, which starred Akshay Kumar, and won easily. The film, which debuted in March, had prominent roles for Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar, Pallavi Joshi, Prakash Belwadi, and Chinmay Mandlekar. However, due to recent developments, Brahmastra has removed The Kashmir Files from its position.
