Vivek Agnihotri has called out Naseeruddin Shah in an interview which is now going viral. The filmmaker had helmed The Kashmir Files, which had received mixed bag of responses. One of the actors who had called out the film happened to be Naseeruddin Shah. In response, Vivek said that the actor might love terrorism but he has zero tolerance for it.
What Vivek said
In his interview with Zoom, Vivek said that he is fond of Naseer and thus, he cast him in The Tashkent Files. The filmmaker feels that off late, the actor has grown old and might feel frustrated with many things. He further said that something about the actor might be getting exposed with The Kashmir Files, ‘since he worked in movies that support genocide.’ Vivek hinted it could be because of Naseeruddin’s religion or something else. “For whatever reasons, maybe he likes to support terrorists, I don’t. I don’t even care what Naseer says because I have zero tolerance for terrorism, maybe he loves them, and I don’t care,” Vivek said during his interview.
More that the filmmaker said
When asked about dealing with trolls, Vivek further spoke about Naseeruddin Shah’s reaction to the film. “With The Kashmir Files, I want conversations to happen among people and we are having conversations. That’s why you see closeted genocide deniers and closeted terrorist support like Naseeruddin Shah are coming out in open and saying that films like The Kashmir Files should not be made, and they call themselves free speech activists,” he added. Vivek further said that the idea is to make urban naxals speak up ‘so innocent Indians know who their enemies are.’
The Vaccine War
Vivek is now releasing his next movie based on COVID-19. The film is called The Vaccine War and stars Nana Patekar in the lead role. Touted to be India's first-ever Bio-science film, the film also stars Anupam Kher, Raima Sen, Sapthami Gowda and Pallavi Joshi in pivotal roles. The film is slated to release on September 28.
