Waltair Veerayya: Here's all you need to know about Urvashi Rautela's role in the Chiranjeevi, Ravi Teja starrer

Urvashi Rautela, who made her South Indian film debut with the Tamil release The Legend, is gradually cementing her presence in the Telugu market as well. It is official that she's playing the lead role in Ram Pothineni's upcoming pan-Indian film directed by Boyapati Srinu. In addition, she was also roped in for an extended appearance in Chiranjeevi's much-anticipated mass entertainer Waltair Veerayya, directed by Bobby Kolli. The latter is set to hit screens in January 23.

A mass number, composed by Devi Sri Prasad, featuring Urvashi, Chiranjeevi and Ravi Teja was shot recently in Hyderabad on a huge set erected for the film. While earlier reports suggested that Urvashi was roped in for a special number in Waltair Veerayya, it is believed that there's more to her appearance in the film beyond the song. A source close to the actress informs that she'll play a Navy officer in the project. 

"Urvashi was offered the character of a Navy officer, a strong, commanding role, which'll have her share screenspace with Chiranjeevi and Ravi Teja," the source adds. It remains to be seen how her role as an officer will extend into a song in the film later. Produced by Naveen Yerneni and Y Ravi Shankar under Mythri Movie Makers, the film is co-produced by GK Mohan. Shruti Haasan plays the female lead in Waltair Veerayya while Bobby Simha and Catherine Tresa essay important roles too.

Waltair Veerayya will be clashing with Balakrishna's Veera Simha Reddy and Akhil Akkineni's Agent in January 2023.
