With Dulquer Salmaan hinting that his upcoming release Sita Ramam could be his last love story, the actor seems to be more open at taking on new and unexplored genres. While he has already kicked off his foray into the ‘mass’ movies, in his own way, with Kurup and its upcoming sequel Alexander, the actor could also soon try his hand at the superhero genre.

On Wednesday at a press meet in Kochi, the actor said that he wasn’t too keen on playing a hero in a super suit as he felt that he wouldn’t look the part as well as someone like Tovino Thomas did in Minnal Murali. However, that doesn’t mean that the actor isn’t shy to play a superhero at all.

In fact, in one of the interviews ahead of Kurup’s release last year, the actor did reveal the kind of superhero that he would like to essay onscreen and his criteria as well. When asked about a Marvel or a DC hero who interests him, the actor said, “Iron Man… I can believe in Iron Man because he doesn’t have a superpower. He is just a genius billionaire.”

Further on his choice, the actor said, “I have a problem with logic. I insist on finding logic in everything.” He also said that he can’t buy the idea of Superman but he’s alright with Batman.

Dulquer has always insisted on playing grounded characters. In fact, it took him almost a decade to do his first full-length cop role with Salute and the reason he went ahead with it was not because the movie had him do ‘mass’ sequences such as his father Mammootty’s beloved police characters but due to the script feeling like a “real story”. “It’s not a conventional police story at all that people expect me to do when I take up a cop role,” he had said.
