Ryan Murphy has forever come up with compelling narratives and deceptive plot twists in all his OTT offerings. His most recent release The Watcher is based on the true story surrounding the events that transpire in the lives of a young family that moves into a palatial Dutch colonial house in the affluent neighborhood of Westfield, New Jersey. As it turns out, soon after acquiring the massive suburban property, they start receiving threatening letters warning them about their new residence. These letters are sent from an anonymous stalker who signs off as The Watcher.

The widely popular Netflix miniseries received divided reviews but undeniably packs the maker’s signature flourishes. Like most of his shows such as Ratched or American Crime Story, The Watcher effectively narrates a creepy story that keeps audiences hooked till the very end. If you’ve recently binged on the mini-series, it’s possible that the characters on the show seemed distinctly recognisable or vaguely familiar at the very least. This is not surprising as the cast of the dark series includes some industry figures who’ve featured in many popular films and shows. Still couldn’t place them all? Let’s take you through them:

Dean Brannock

First up, we have the show’s lead Dean Brannock, who is played by Bobby Cannavale. The Emmy Award-winning actor has previously been a guest star in Will and Grace and also starred in the psychological thriller Homecoming. You may have seen him more recently in the Netflix film Blonde.

Maureen

Next, the character of Maureen is played by Margo Martindale, who has played supporting roles in several big-ticket films such as The Firm, Million Dollar Baby and Dead Man Walking. Most notably, she played a fictional character modeled on herself in the popular Netflix series BoJack Horseman. Largely popular for her episodic roles in shows such as Dexter, Martindale has bagged an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for both, The Good Wife and The American.

Jasper Winslow

Easily the most creepiest and most unhinged character in The Watcher, the character of Jasper Winslow is played by Terry Kinney. Kinney may be best known for playing the character of Tim McManus in HBO series Oz, but you’ve seen him in various shows in bite-sized parts. Apart from episodic appearances in shows such as Miami Vice, Fargo and The Good Wife, you may remember him as Special Agent Sam Bosco from the Mentalist.

Mitch

It’s easy to recognise Richard Kind who plays the role of Mitch in the Watcher. A popular face on television, Kind has starred as Andy on Curb your enthusiasm and Walter Bloom in the biographical musical comedy-drama Tick, Tick... Boom!. You may also remember him as Dr. Mark Devanow in the Helen Hunt-starrer Mad About You.

Dakota

Henry Hunter Hall who plays Dakota in The Watcher doesn’t have an impressive filmography yet. But if you’re itching to recollect where you’ve seen him last, it’s likely that it must be in the Netflix miniseries When They See Us where he plays the character of Jermain.

Detective Rourke Chamberland

It’s impossible that you didn’t recognise Christopher McDonald who plays Detective Rourke Chamberland in The Watcher. But if you’re struggling, we’re here to jog your memory. After all, what else are we here for?

McDonald has starred in small yet memorable roles in films such as Grease 2, Thelma & Louise, Requiem for a Dream and Adam Sandler’s goofy comey Happy Gilmore. More recently, McDonald was nominated for an Emmy for the HBO Max series Hacks, where he plays the casino CEO Marty Ghilain.

Well thats the OTTplay List hai toh hti hai for today, until the next episode it's your host Nikhil signing out.
