George R R Martin is an American novelist and short story writer renowned for the series of epic fantasy novels A Song of Ice and Fire. The books which were adapted into the multiple Emmy Award-winning HBO series Game of Thrones. A prequel to A Song of Ice and Fire novels titled, Fire and Blood has also been adapted to the successful ongoing series House of the Dragon.

Influenced by authors such as J R R Tolkien, Charles Dickens, Scott Fitzgerald, Martin took on writing at a very young age. He also helped create the Wild Cards anthology series, and contributed worldbuilding for the critically acclaimed 2022 video game developed by FromSoftware, Elden Ring.
