With Dick wolf's creation, Law & order emerged in the year 1990 and progressed through 20 seasons. This series, laced with legal drama, mystery, and police procedural follows the investigation of crime and prosecution of the defendant by the Manhattan District Attorney's office. The cases and crime, shown in the show, are generally adapted from real-life criminal incidents through current headlines. The character, District Attorney Adam Schiff, was roughly based on the real Manhattan District Attorney Robert Morgenthau, and it has been come into understanding that Morgenthau himself used to enjoy the character of Schiff. The popularity of Law & order led to the making of a law and order franchise, a television film, several video games, International adaptations of the show, and a spinoff, "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
