The six-part crime docuseries is directed by Brian Knappenberger, who is well known for his web-related documentaries such as The Internet's Own Boy (2014) and We Are Legion (2012). Produced by Luminant Media and Imagine Documentaries, the series chronicles the experiences of people that have gotten trapped in a web of misinformation and digital deception because of the rise of digital media and the various consequences associated with it, from ‘SWATing’ to the rabbit-hole of white supremacy and bigotry, along with dwelling into the various factors that led to the election interference by Russian forces. It essentially explores what the outcome is when a regular American household gets entangled in a web of misinformation.
