The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 mini-auction in Kochi saw auctioneer Hugh Edmeades take over the proceedings and Kane Williamson was the first name up. It did take some time, but Gujarat Titans (GT) raised their hand at 2 crore and took in the Kiwi skipper.
Next in line was England's Harry Brook, who saw a tough bid between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Rajasthan Royals (RR), and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
While there was no fight for Williamson, the bid went on and on for the 23-year-old Brook. The English player was finally sold for 13.25 Cr to SRH after Rajasthan ran out of money.
Indian batter Mayank Agarwal came in next and saw Punjab Kings (PBKS) ask for him - after releasing him. RCB too went into a bidding war with them for the batter whose base price was Rs 1 crore.
Later Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and SRH joined in for the opening batter and after a lot of back and forth, Mayank Agarwal was sold to the Hyderabad franchise for Rs 8.25 Crore.
