A protest against the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) was led by renowned Indian wrestlers including Sakshi Malik, Vinesh Phogat, and Bajrang Punia. Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the WFI president and a member of parliament (MP) for the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP), has been called upon to resign from his position.

The wrestlers have written a letter to Indian Olympic Association (IOA) chief PT Usha and have listed four demands: 

1) New panel to run WFI affairs 

2) Appoint a panel to look into the complaint 

3) Brij Bhushan must resign immediately 

4) Dissolution of WFI

According to the photo of the letter posted on her Instagram, Asian and Commonwealth Games gold medalist, Vinesh Phogat alleged mental harassment by Brij Bhushan. She continued by saying that the wrestlers have documentation of sexual harassment during national camps in Lucknow by the WFI president and a few coaches.

Talking about the protest, it began after the Olympic wrestlers gathered at Jantar Mantar in the capital city on Wednesday. 

They demanded action against WFI president Brij Bhushan, alleging that the 66-year-old sexually harassed female wrestlers and intimidated quite a few athletes.
