The cinema halls this month in May 2024 are packed with Hollywood films from across the world more than Hindi films. While we are busy keeping a record of everything releasing on the big screen and the streaming platforms, there is a franchise movie that has hit the big screen. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is here in the cinema halls and it brings back the legacy of Caesar and a new Ape hero with Noa. The movie takes the fantasy world into a dystopian arc where humans have disappeared from the earth and apes have taken over as the dwellers. The thought is quite interesting and so is the genre, which reminds us of the world of fantasy that Lionsgate Play holds.

Fantasy is a genre that has no boundaries if you look at it. The ideas can fly free and in all directions possible. It could be a knight ruling a kingdom, dragons flying, a giant lizard ruling the world, or chimpanzees helping the US government; there are no limits to it. Lionsgate Play has a library that has many such. Of course, the widely popular God of the Egypts is also one on the platform, but there is more to the genre than that on Lionsgate Play.

So as we all are excited for Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes but haven't booked our tickets for this weekend, we have got you covered. Below we recommend some fantasy dramas from the library at Lionsgate Play to fix that hunger for some suspension of disbelief.

Based on the life of the 16th-century queen of France Catherine de' Medici, Queen of Serpents navigates her life in the royal circus after she is married to King Henri II at the age of 14. Based on the 2004 nonfiction novel "Catherine de Medici: Renaissance Queen of France" by Leonie Frieda, the show takes inspiration for the characters from real figures but weaves a fictional fantasy-like tale around them. You must witness this slow-burning screenplay.

Daybreakers (2009)

Cast: Ethan Hawke, Willem Dafoe, and Claudia Karvan.

Director: Michael Spierig.

A plague has turned most of the humans into vampires across the world. Only a few remain and the story takes us ten years from that. A critical blood shortage leads to panic and gruesome mutation among the people. Edward, who is also a vampire, tries to create a substitute for blood with two humans who claim they know the cure to this. The story is invested in finding a cure for the same.

Pompeii (2014)

Cast: Kit Harington, Emily Browning, and Carrie Ann-Moss.

Director: Paul W.S. Anderson.

Pompeii, a bustling port city is where Milo, a Gladiator who was a former slave stays and has caught the attention of Cassia, who is the daughter of a wealthy merchant. But the vast difference in their social difference becomes a roadblock alongside the fact that Cassia has been already promised to a Roman senator. Mount Vesuvius between all erupts and the lava and ash flow down the city. Milo now has to race against time to save his people and the love of his life.
