Barkha Singh is all set for her upcoming project Murder Meri Jaan, which will be part of the short-form series Quix by Disney+ Hotstar. The trailer for her episode in the series that is a crime-drama with a romantic angle had already dropped and it revealed that the actress will be playing a sweet and bubbly character much like herself, while Tanuj Virwani will be essaying a police officer.

Ahead of the series’ release, Barkha shared with OTTPlay some fun experiences that she had during its shoot:

Tell us about your character, who seems to be this ‘looteri dulhan’. Was it difficult to shoot with those heavy attires?

Shooting in lehenga and jewellery was not very difficult as I’m used to it. In fact, I was really comfortable in the bridal outfit and it was quite fun.

How was the experience of working with Tanuj Virwani?

It was fun. By the time Tanuj was onboard for the show, I was already in Bhopal for the shoot. It was funny the first day we met. He was really hungover from a wrap party of one of his projects and I was also feeling under the weather. So, we were both exhausted to get to know each other. But it was hilarious when we look back at that now.

The shoot was really hectic during this time and having a good co-actor makes things easier for you. Tanuj is a real gem and a sweetheart.

How challenging was it to shoot during the pandemic?

We shot between January and March this year, before we were hit by the second wave of COVID-19. It was challenging because most of the shoot was outdoors at marketplaces in Bhopal. But we followed all protocols and thankfully none of our cast or crew got infected.

In the trailer, we see you helping police officers solve crimes even though you’re also a criminal. Tell us about that.

(Laughs) My character Sonal is very intelligent, but at the same time funny and unpredictable. That’s why throughout the show no one takes her seriously. Tanuj must have felt like Sherlock while he was solving crimes, but in my case, I was feeling more like Sonal.

So, will the cops catch her?

You will have to watch Murder Meri Jaan for that. But I can tell you that there are two parallel stories – one where Sonal, the police officers and the forensic teams are solving murders, and another where the cops are busy searching for this ‘looteri dulhan’. It will be interesting for the audience to know how Tanuj’s character is going to find out that Sonal is the 'looteri dulhan' and what happens after that.

You’ve worked with Manoj Bajpayee in Silence... Can You Hear It?. How was the experience?

Oh my God! It was really a great opportunity. Though we did not have many scenes together, as I’m playing dead in the film, we generally used to chill on set together. I learnt a lot from him during a short span of time. He even taught me how to ‘easily’ play dead in front of the camera.

What are the other projects you have in hand right now?

There are definitely some really interesting projects in line. But they are all on hold right now because of the pandemic and I’m not allowed to talk about them.
