City Of Dreams season 3 is the latest show on Disney+ Hotstar starring Priya Bapat, Atul Kulkarni, Sachin Pilgaonkar and Eijaz Khan. Meanwhile, Rannvijay Singha joined the popular political drama in the latest instalment. In a recent chat with OTTplay, the Mismatched fame actor shared his thoughts and experience working in the new series. Excerpts:

City Of Dreams is indeed one of the best political thriller dramas on OTT. What urged you to join the show?

I think the answer lies in the question itself. Like you said, it's one of the best political dramas on OTT that's one reason to join the show. Big reason. The Second was that I would do anything for Nagesh (Kukunoor) Sir and Elahe (Hiptoola) Mam. I have worked with them in the past. And the experience was amazing. And we're friends and family. That was a second reason. The third reason is why to work with Disney plus Hotstar and Applause. And the role in itself is very interesting and is quite important and instrumental in the story. So many reasons. Also to share. You know, the screen space with such great actors was so many incentives to actually do the show.

Please tell us a little bit about your character and can we expect a surprising element from your character as well?

Well, my character is that of a person who actually owns a media house and is in a political scenario. The communication between political parties, leaders and the people is the media the media plays a very important role in a democracy. And the person who obviously controls the media then holds a very important position. Now if that person has hidden agendas, then it makes the whole situation more complicated or, or, you know, sensitive. And yes, there is there are some surprise elements in the character, but I think the character itself is also very, it's different as a unique character, I wouldn't say anything like that. Also, I don't know a person like that. The personal kind of extreme extremities that my character has. So I had to do a lot of chats with the director, who actually had envisioned this character in a certain way. But having said that, those few days that we shot, this was amazing. We had a really great time and we, you know, just kept pushing the envelope a little bit.

Priya Bapat's character Poornima won this political battle in the second season. Who are you rooting for this time?

If I tell you who am I rooting for as a character, then you will probably know the twist. As Ron was definitely rooting for Poornima to come out as a winner. But we never know.

OTT is rising by the day, do you feel that you've also been recognised more or got better roles, shows and opportunities due to OTT's arrival as you were mostly known for Roadies and reality shows earlier?

I feel like OTT is one of the best things that's happened to creators and people who want to work in this industry. There is definitely because of the OTT there are definitely more work opportunities, not just for actors, directors and scriptwriters but also for technicians. And at the end of the day, people forget that it is a livelihood for many people and you know, now DOP is and, and light men and just the crew, they have so much work because so many oddities are making so many different shows, not just like fiction, but also reality that it is great. And also OTT as a as a consumer, is bringing great content, movies series, to your device, which is your phone. So a lot of my in my day to day life. I see our watchman, some auto drivers, drivers, people who wouldn't be able to go to the movie halls like 100 times a year watch about 100 movies on average so it's not just for the people who are making the show, the technicians, the artists, but also people who consume. So all in all, I really do think OTTs have made life better for everybody and a lot more employment has been generated, which is great for the country itself.

When can we expect Mismatched season 3 and would you like to have a spinoff of your character in Mismatched?

Well, yeah, why not? If somebody could write it really well and have lots of different shades of the character. And yeah, that's a good idea. Let me know if there's a script floating around. That's like, like a spin-off.

Tell us about your upcoming project.

Other than the one that you just spoke about, Mismatched 3, I am doing something where I'm going on a cycling expedition to Italy around a Grand Lake. And it's, it's part one of a three-part series, but we'll only figure out if we're going to do the other two. If this one goes successful, we come back in one piece. I am kind of part of the making of this whole thing of this whole journey. We're gonna document it and then we're gonna come back and see what we want to do with it. As you said, the oddities are, like really giving opportunities to people. So like, I want to do these adventure shows and adventure trips and then see how I can document it, maybe present it to an OTT and see if this can then become an IP and you know, so that's something that I'm working on other that I have a lot of these sporting events that I do, I will lead basketball league that I'm busy with. And yeah, for the time being, these are the only things that I'm doing and trying to balance things within the family and work.
