On December 9, the web series CAT, starring Randeep Hooda, was finally released on Netflix. The audience and critics are complimenting the plot and performance of the cast. In an exclusive interview with OTTplay, actor Hasleen Kaur, who portrays a cop in the web series, spoke about how she prepared for her role and shared her thoughts on the series being compared to Udta Punjab.

When asked how did she land up with this role and what prompted her to say yes to it, Hasleen said, "I want to do roles as an actor that are different. Plus the character of Babita was challenging and therefore I said yes to it "

While talking about her experience working with Randeep Hooda, the actress said, "He invest in him completely. He used to always correct me whenever he used to see me doing something not perfectly. He was there to support me during every shot. He used to ask me things like, ‘What have you learned? What did you do in your homework?, Did you practice your scenes? So it felt like as he would perfect all of his scenes, he was there for others too to make sure that everything we are doing is perfect.”

She also added, "Today if I am being appreciated for the show, I would like to say that it is because of him."

When asked that a part of audience is comparing CAT with Shahid Kapoor-Ali Bhatt starrer Udta Punjab, Hasleen said, "CAT is a different story altogether, it has no reference to Udta Punjab at all. The vision of the makers was not at all to remake Udta Punjab. I want to be very clear on this and this is something that even Balwinder sir has always been very candid about. He was not making another Udta Punjab. This is a story about Counter Against Terrorism (CAT) which has no connection to any film."

Audiences have been praising CAT for both Hasleen's performance and the show as a whole. Hasleen plays a subordinate police officer who aids Randeep Hooda in his role as a police informant in a drug ring. The show is set in the early 2000s in Punjabi. Despite not being a tentpole series or one that received a lot of publicity, the series was popular on Netflix during the week of its premiere.
