After brief roles in Uri: The Surgical Strike and 83, Dhairya Karwa is playing a very important role in Shakun Batra's Gehraiyaan. The actor is playing the role of Karan, who is Deepika Padukone's onscreen live-in partner. The actor is one of the leads, alongside Siddhant Chaturvedi and Ananya Panday. Ahead of the release of Gehraiyaan on Amazon Prime Video, OTTplay quizzed him about the challenging aspects of shooting for this film.
Dhairya exclusively told us, "Apart from COVID019, it was just a joy to be on the set, exploring your craft, learning and just being amongst these people who are genuine, warm, and extremely talented. I'd say it was exciting rather than challenging for me. I overcame the challenge just in the prep zone where we got to know each other. Through the workshop, I became well versed in how Shakun was looking at the film, my character, and myself. I was comfortable and confident by the time we started shooting. I was just looking forward to the experience, and I can just say in retrospect that I've had the most amazing time."
As Gehraiyaan is an OTT release, the box office pressure discussion eases out easily on the team of the film. On being asked about it, Dhairya further said, "You hope that your work reaches the widest audience possible. With the growth of the streaming platforms in the last two years, I mean, before that too, but we've survived the last two years with content on streaming platforms. It's a refreshing change, and it's a change that's here to stay. I'm excited because there'll be more stories that will be told, which means more possibilities and opportunities for me as a performer. I'm excited that our film is coming to Amazon Prime Video, which has a wide reach. A lot of people are going to watch it at the same time and just continue watching it. Hopefully, it'll be one of those films that survive the test of time and people come back to it."
Gehraiyaan is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
