Exclusive! Filmmaker Sudhir Mishra on Jehanabad - Of Love & War: It's a damn exciting show

Jehanabad - Of Love & War is the latest show on SonyLIV starring Parambrata Chattopadhyay, Ritwik Bhowmik and Harshita Gaur in significant roles among others. The crime-thriller series is inspired by a real-life event in Bihar that took place in 2005. 

The web series, which is helmed by show-runner Sudhir Mishra and directed by Rajeev Barnwal and Satyanshu Singh, mostly focuses on the topics of casteism that takes place in a small town of Bihar and also focuses on a love story amid the chaos. 

In a recent chat with OTTplay, filmmaker Mishra shared his own thought about the show and also explained why is it an important watch for the Indian public. Excerpts:

Talking about how the real-life event become an idea for the web series, Mishra shared, "The boy called Rajeev Barnwal (writer and director). He is a writer, who is from Bihar. When they had the idea on such a real-life event and Sony said yes to it and they asked me to be on board to mentor it. I said yes."

He further went on to explain the important aspects of Jehanabad - Of Love & War and said, "It's a damn exciting show. And it's a damn exciting real-life story as well, which is of course a little fictionalised. It's a very urgent, very well and exciting show about our world and the shades of grey that exist in it. It also talks about, how people react to repression and oppression."

"But it's told in a very interesting way, and at the core of it there is a love story," the filmmaker added.

Apart from directing, Barnwal has also written Jehanabad - Of Love & War, which has been produced by Studio NEXT, while SonyLIV is the distributor of the show.

Along with starring Ritwik Bhowmik, Parambrata Chatterjee, Harshita Gaur and Rajat Kapoor, the crime-thriller show also has Satyadeep Mishra, Sonal Jha, Rajesh Jais, and Suneel Sinha in important supporting roles.
