After six long years, Nimrat Kaur will be seen in the Hindi movie, Dasvi. In the film, the actor plays the role of the Chief Minister of Haryana, played by Abhishek A Bachchan's wife, Bimmo, a homemaker. As the film progresses, her character then succeeds her husband as the CM of the state, Bimla Devi. For people who have been following Indian OTT content closely, this story will remind you of Huma Qureshi's character from the SonyLIV series Maharani.

During an exclusive interaction with OTTplay, Nimrat was asked if the thought of the similarity between her character from Dasvi and Huma's from Maharani came across her mind. To which the actor said, "No, because I tell you what, we started shooting this in, like I said, February 2020, when this film was pitched to me. I haven't watched anything that comes to mind. I haven't personally watched anything."

The Lunchbox actor shared, "I was offered this film in February 2020, and from October 2020 onwards, I started going all the way. In March 2021, we started shooting for it. I was just not even looking at any references anywhere or anything. I just wanted to find Bimmo and Bimla Devi within the spirit of Dasvi. For me, I had to create that character with the help of Tushar Jalota and the writer, Sandeep Layzell."

Nimrat added, "I had to create that character from scratch, not from any experience that I've had with anyone or any reference point, but purely from my imagination. So that is where I was, just keeping busy, just referencing this script and going back into the scenes each time, trying to live that life in my mind as a village belle who is sweet, simple, and docile. A girl whose inner child was never quite allowed to live, breathe, and break free. She was somebody who was shackled all her life and asked to live a life according to other people, from getting married to even becoming a CM."

Further talking about her character, the talented star continued, "Basically, it's a part that then travels to become that child with that insane power. I've been saying that it's like a child being given an SUV to drive. Of course, she is going to bang it. They are not going to find that child driving it in a straight, rule-bound manner. She was crazy and didn't want to lose what she had never had. It's an oppressed person becoming an aggressor. She doesn't want to lose that. Once you've tasted blood, how do you go back?"

Dasvi is set to stream on Netflix and JioCinema from April 7, 2022.
