Exclusive! Paoli: I instantly loved the script Sanjoy Nag offered to me

Paoli is on a holiday spree. The actress is spending time with her family in the US for weeks. On December 4, the actress celebrated her fifth marriage anniversary with her husband Arjun Dev. Meanwhile, she bagged the Best Actress Golden Sparrow Award for Indrani Chakraborty’s Chhaad at the Diorama International Film Festival in Delhi. In a telephone chat from Las Vegas, an elated Paoli expressed her joy.

“I am delighted. I want to thank Indrani for giving me this character. Mitra, my character, is a teacher and a writer. She looks for a place to let her imagination and creativity run wild. Chhaad, the terrace, becomes that space of freedom for her. It is a beautiful film. I missed the festival as I am on a planned holiday with my family but I miss my team,” The actress said. 

After Paoli comes back, she will start her new film in the Hindi language. Meanwhile, she has already completed another film, Gulab, with Sanjoy Nag. “This is my second film with Sanjoyda. He wanted me to play Rani and Instantly loved the concept of the film and my character. What I liked about the script is the way it celebrated death. It may sound a little dark but it is not. The film has five characters – three men and two women and it revolves around a tussle over a grave. It is interesting to see the way the script deals with death,” she said. 

Sanjoy Nag’s Gulab is based on Annie Zaidi’s eponymous work and it features Tanya Maniktala of A Suitable Boy-fame, Rahul Bagga of Ludo-fame, Vardhan Puri, who is Amrish Puri’s grandson, and several others.
