Exclusive! Tahir Raj Bhasin on winning OTTplay Award: Began my career as antagonist, so winning Best Actor as hero feels like a full circle

Tahir Raj Bhasin got his first big win at the OTTplay Awards, wherein he was bestowed in the Best Actor in a Web Series category for his incredible performance in Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein. The actor started his year with a bang with this Netflix series, which is a perfect dose of pulp fiction and thrillers. Soon after winning an award, Tahir spoke exclusively to OTTplay about his big win.

The actor told us, "Yes, the first award for a web series, and to get it for Best Actor (Popular) is incredible." Dropping a hint about the second season, Tahir went on to say, "Season two is going to be as pacey with as many cliffhangers and as much drama as season one was. We go on floors towards the end of this year. And yes, OTT has been an incredible opportunity just because of the kinds of different stories that you can tell."

The talented actor also said, "I began my career as the antagonist (for Mardaani), so winning Best Actor as the hero feels like a full circle. I'm excited about what the future holds. I think it's an incredible time to be an actor these days."

On being asked about the OTTplay Awards' One Nation, One OTT motto, Tahir shared, "It couldn't be a more apt motto. I think it was very special how inclusive this evening was. We had people from the fraternity of film and OTT and I think bringing the country together both in terms of content and today's ceremony was really true to what your motto is."

During his winning speech at the OTTplay Awards, Tahir shared his two cents on being original. The actor stated, "It's incredible that we're here celebrating OTT because I think it's been a phenomenal platform for filmmakers. I think it's going to usher in a new era of creativity, as it already is. These are the positives, but since I'm in a room of power, there is a negative. I would like to just mention it, and that is algorithms for the uninitiated. That's when artificial intelligence tells you what works and what doesn't work. Trends, that one word that we all hear about all the time, are associated with algorithms. With trends comes an inability to take risks. And if there's one thought that I'd like to leave you with, it's that in a world of trends, try to be an original."
