The year 2022 seems to be packed to the rafters for Thalaivasal Vijay. The BellBottom actor has a slew of films in his kitty and he has just signed his next Hindi film that stars Yami Gautam in the lead. "I am heading to Mumbai shortly for the shoot. I just have a couple of days' shoot," starts off the actor, who is awaiting the release of  Shirsha Guha Thakurta's rom-com with Vidya Balan. Thalaivasal Vijay plays Vidya Balan's father in it and the shoot for the film was wrapped in Ooty toward the fag end of 2021. "The film is likely to hit screens by the end of this year," he says.

As for Tamil films, Thalaivasal Vijay is excited about Vishal's action entertainer Laththi, directed by Vinoth Kumar. "Vishal plays a police constable in the film, and I play his senior, who is like a godfather to him. The film will highlight the role of police constables in the society. If you take any incident, it's usually the constables who are the first to witness the crime scene and dole out information to their superior authorities. They are like the frontline soldiers in the police force. Sometimes, they have to take major decisions pertaining to an incident at the spot. But unfortunately, many a time, people do not tend to give them their due. Laththi sort of pays a tribute to constables."

Talking about his co-star Vishal, Thalaivasal Vijay says, "I think this should be a big film for him. He has worked on his role with a lot of dedication, despite all the injuries. We shot for over 80 days in Hyderabad. Stunt choreographer Peter Hein has worked extensively on the film and there will be some heavy-duty action in it. I also got to share screen space with Prabhu sir and we had some really interesting time together. The film is bankrolled by Nandaa and Ramana."

Thalaivasal Vijay is also part of director Kannan's heist comedy Kasethan Kadavulada and Vijay Milton's action thriller Mazhai Pidikkatha Manithan. "Kasethan Kadavulada is a remake of the 1972-film of the same name. While I play the character portrayed by Venniradai Moorthy in the original, Urvashi portrays Aachi Manorama's character. When we were discussing how to go ahead with our respective roles, Urvashi stated that we perform the roles in our style. I got to play an alcoholic after a long time and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The film has come out well. Shiva plays the protagonist in it."

On Mazhai Pidikkatha Manithan, Thalaivasal Vijay says, "I play Megha Akash's father in the film. It's an intense character where you are dragged into a situation where you put a guarantee sign for someone and the party involved doesn't pay the money and it becomes your responsibility. The film itself is quite an interesting one."

Thalaivasal Vijay has also taken the plunge into web series with Amazon Prime Video's The Village starring Arya in the lead. The show is an adaptation of a graphic novel and is directed by Milind Rau. Though the actor remains tight-lipped about his role in it, all he says is that it revolves around zombies.

In the meantime, Thalaivasal Vijay is excited about playing a Kathakali exponent in a recent ad."I was initially sceptical about it because I wasn't sure if I could pull it off.  But, I guess since I have been doing a number of Malayalam films, they thought I would work. The attire added an extra few kilos to the body and my eyes would well up everytime. It took four hours to put on the makeup alone and later, once ready, I found it difficult to walk around. I had many questions going on in my mind, but I am glad I did it eventually.
