Puncch Beat actor Siddharth Sharma had an early eviction from Lock Upp. Karanvir Bohra had thrown him out of the house for an opportunity to see Teejay Sidhu. However, that seems to have worked in Siddharth’s favour since the actor has bagged an A-list Bollywood movie and will start shooting for it from April 4.

Siddharth revealed so to OTTplay exclusively, among the many other things including why he will bond with Munawar Faruqui and not Anjali Arora outside the house. Excerpts…

How are you feeling at this given point?

I’m happy because I’m getting a lot of work outside. I was introduced on the stage very nicely. There’s nothing that I left behind. I came with nothing. I earned everybody’s respect and love. I’m all happy.

You just said that you received a lot of work. Did you expect this kind of work after doing the show?

No. It’s destined. I came out. These people were initially looking for me but casted someone else. After I got evicted, this project is just going on floors and I got it. I’m making my Bollywood debut so very excited.

Is it a big budget film?

Yes. It’s an A-list film. We begin rolling from April 4. I have come at the very right time.

What was your intention when you entered the house? Was that met?

Not really. I did not intend or think about anything when entering the house. I was called for the show last moment. I got to know about it five days before the show’s grand premiere. I just came with some of my clothes and entered the show like that.

You did make some real good friends like Munawar and Anjali. Do you think you guys will still stay friends?

Munawar for sure. Anjali, no. I have someone I love outside of Lock Upp and I told her about it. Anjali had a problem with that so I wouldn’t want to be friends with such terms and conditions. I don’t want people to come in my personal space. I had actually cleared it on the show – that my mother, sister and the person I love are the only ones I allowed to get into my space. I won’t allow anybody else.

What are your thoughts about MunJali?

It is amazing. They look very cute together. Munawar also has someone on the outside. He will tell me about it someday. He gave me hints about her. You know Munawar. He didn’t talk much about her on the show. Everyone should take it very positively. If two people love each other, it isn’t always a relationship. They could also love each other as friends. I’m sure his girl might be affected and Munawar feels he hurt her too but I want to tell bhabhi to not misunderstand the situation. He’s a very cute guy who has a good heart.

When you look at the larger perspective now, it you were in Karanvir's shoes, would you have done the same thing he did?

Yes. I would have also evicted my competition but if I call someone my brother or friend, then I get very protective and giving about them. If you call me your bhai and stay true to that word, then I will even sacrifice my life for you. I am a little confused that he called me bhai and evicted me from the show at the same time. I also go to outdoor shoots and stay away from my family for two-three months and we were simply into 20 days since the show began.

When it came to Karanvir and Munawar, that they consider each other brother, I had taken KV’s stand back then. I told him that Munawar should not have called him bhai and nominated him for the chargesheet. KV also did the same thing with me. I’m just wondering, on what grounds would he get upset with Munawar that he called KV brother and then nominated him? You proved that statement right through your own actions.

Even in the house, people loved how you handled the situation. While people loved how you handled it in the house, what was the reaction of people outside?

I’m getting a lot of love. My mom and brother are very proud of me that I handled it very nicely. This is a side they don’t see in anyone else. They found me unique.

You have got the tag of unstable. Payal had called you that after the big fight. What would you have to say about that?

Payal ji was leading our team. When our team had just formed, we won the first task. It was because of her attitude that the team was affected. She has become very desperate now because she is constantly named in the chargesheet and she doesn’t have too many friends on the show. Either she has a side that people cannot digest seeing or her tangents with people is bad which is why people can’t understand her properly. When she told me, “Siddharth, out,” constantly, that was demeaning to me. I’m an individual and a player, not your servant for you to give me orders like when I should be out of a task or give her water. I’m a performer who has proved myself in every task. I would win every time and had an amazing bond between me, Kaaranvir and Munawar. We would win every task and understand each other well. It’s just the difference of perspective but I’m sure she will make up to it. This is a show where your variations and emotions keep changing. There’s no permanent friend or enemy in the house.

Would you agree with Kangana when she says it had gotten to a point where it was uncomfortable to watch Payal on screen?

She has done a lot of reality shows so she has something on her mind. Her funda is – the more I speak, the more I’ll be seen. I think that is missing in her – that to cater to her audiences, she keeps on stretching a point. Now, there’s a point where you know, even if there is nothing happening, she tries to create something there. That is an irritating factor for anyone.

You got a Bollywood project. Where do we Siddharth going from here?

(Crosses fingers) Right now, I just have this thing on the platter and would want to focus on this because it’s a huge dream-come-true. So, I’m focusing on this right now and waiting for it to release.

Since you already have this project, if you are approached for Puncch Beat again, will you be doing that as well?

Absolutely (folds hands). I’m thankful and grateful to AltBalaji. I’ve been associated with them for four years and have done four of their shows. They are like a family to me. So, 100%. I can’t give a second thought to that. Puncch Beat is like my debut, yaar. It has given me a lot.

If you get another opportunity, would you go to Lock Upp again?

Yes, I definitely want to go back. I want to go and play the game very nicely. I want people to see a version of me which is a little hatke. I’m a gemini – I’m dual personality. You saw one personality and will get to see the other side. I’m a flipper.
