Lokah star Durga Vinod: 'Was surprised to see Dulquer Salmaan, Tovino Thomas on screen'| Exclusive

Lokah: Chapter 1: Chandra is getting a lot of attention because of its gripping story and the cast's outstanding performances. One of them is Durga Vinod, a child artiste who portrayed the younger Chandra, also known as Neeli, in this fantasy thriller. As a martial arts performer and trainer while enrolled in Class 6, this actor from Thrissur is a multitasker. She revealed in an interview with OTTplay that she had no idea how huge of a project this was or about the cameos in the film.

'Surprised to see DQ and Tovino Thomas'

I had no idea that Dulquer Salmaan, Tovino Thomas, and other cameos were in this movie, so I clutched my father's hand tightly in disbelief while I watched it on the big screen, Durga remarked. She continued by saying that being a part of a movie with such an amazing cast and team was like a dream come true. Following a recommendation from her father's acquaintance to the casting team and subsequent participation at an audition led by Lokah's co-writer Santhy Balachandran, the young star was chosen for the film. 

"All I knew about my role, Neeli, was that there will be a lot of fighting sequences in it. My father, Vinod Prabhakar, who is also an actor and stunt instructor, helped me to comprehend the action scenes that Yannick Ben had choreographed. Durga also conveyed her appreciation and excitement at receiving compliments on her performance. It is undoubtedly a blessing that I got praise from both the audience and the film's brilliant actors, she remarked.

'Performed in front of SS Rajamouli, Dhanush...'

Durga also talked candidly about the opportunity she had to play Kalari at the audio launch ceremony of Bahubali 2 in Chennai, in front of SS Rajamouli, Dhanush, and Tamannah Bhatia. "I started training at the age of three after watching my parents and brother practice Kalari when I was a young child. In order to prioritise self-defence techniques, my father and I now regularly take workshops and classes in schools," she continued. 

"In addition to practicing different martial arts and acting, I want to follow in my family's footsteps and become an Ayurvedic doctor," she said. Vinod, Durga's father, was Vikram's dupe in Raavanan and was an integral part of the stunt team of Indian 3 as well as Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey.
