Maine Pyar Kiya star Askar Ali: 'I have more clarity on what kind of films to do now...'| Exclusive

Askar Ali recently made a comeback with Suresh Gopi's latest film, Janaki V v/s State of Kerala, which is now streaming on ZEE5 and OTTplay Premium. In the upcoming Malayalam film Maine Pyar Kiya, the young actor—who is also Asif Ali's brother—plays a crucial part. In an interview with OTTplay, Askar talked about his changed outlook on films and how he is trying hard to be a part of good films.

'Choice of scripts have changed'

Askar talked about his focus on choosing worthy projects that provide him more room to perform. "I am not picky about the kind of screenplays I want to work on or about playing a certain kind of character. He stated, "The first thing I think about is whether I can do such a role or if it gives me adequate space for my acting." 

The actor continued by saying that he now enjoys acting more than he did when he first started working in films and that he has more maturity and clarity today. "Maine Pyar Kiya turned out to be a project to have fun with its director who is also my best friend and the energetic young cast of it," he said, adding that JSK was a movie that provided him a comeback.

'Asif inspires me'

Askar also discussed how his brother motivates him in his work. "His attitude to filmmaking and each of his characters is incredibly motivating. This has really helped me make more informed decisions on films," he said. 

The Kamuki star also talked about how people frequently enquire about his lack of films or his brother's assistance in obtaining more offers in the industry. "In the end, your efforts, commitment, and diligence are what will lead to opportunities and a reputation in any industry. Casting decisions are made by producers or filmmakers, although I struggled for six years without a film. We must respect that," he stated.
