How did this project materialize?

I came into this industry, though I had learned music and was busy with my professional life. As I had a very good style of narrating stories, I got into the industry and had my struggles. The moment I narrated the story to Maruthi, he loved the script and gave a go-ahead.

What is special about Tribanadhari Barbarik?

The film is a social drama and is along the lines of Vijay Sethupathi's Maharaja. Not in terms of story, but the way the template and its narration are done is on the lines of Maharaja. The film has strong character arcs and is emotionally charged with strong performances. All those who have seen Barbarik have been pleasantly surprised by my work.

What made you choose Sathyaraj for the lead role?

Barbarik is an important character in the Kurukshetra war, which has historical importance. Not many knew about Barbarik in Telugu, and my film's lead character has a resemblance to Barbarik in a few parts. How that is possible in today's time, one needs to watch the film to find out. The character needed a mature actor with depth and a fan following. I felt Sathyaraj was the perfect choice, and when he heard the story, he okayed it right away.

What is the basic backdrop of Tribanadhari Barbarik?

The story of Barbarik carries multiple layers, blending mythological elements with contemporary events. I intended to convey that while everyone makes mistakes, whether knowingly or unknowingly, true greatness lies in the ability to master and control one’s emotions.

What made you choose Udaya Bhanu as the main villain?

I wanted a strong female character who could dominate the proceedings with her screen presence. As we could not get big names, we roped in noted anchor Udaya Bhanu. She has surprised everyone with her negative act and is one of the major highlights of Barbarik.

Did the director Maruthi give inputs after watching the film?

Though he was busy with Prabhas’ The Raja Saab, Maruthi took time for the film and gave a lot of inputs, which I used for the betterment of the film. The story of Barbarik is unique and, on paper, is quite hard to believe. But Maruthi trusted my narrative and supported me a lot, which helped my producers bankroll this film with a decent budget.

You have chosen the Infusion Band to compose music. Why is that so?

As I am inclined towards music a lot, I have known the band for the longest time and felt that their craziness would be a perfect match for my subject. The songs, BGM, and the way they have designed the sound are superb. They will become even more popular once the film is released.

About Sathyaraj's performance?

Sathyaraj is a seasoned actor and brings a lot of depth to any character he plays. He will be seen in two distinct looks, and his emotionally charged performance will also bring a few surprises in the narrative. Along with him, the likes of Satyam Rajesh also play a key role in this film, which has a gripping narrative and will surely shock one and all.
