Mohit Raina on real-life reflections in Mumbai Diaries Season 2: There was a dilemma inside me for some time | Exclusive

Mumbai Diaries Season 2 is out and is getting lauded for being a better sequel. Mohit Raina and Konkona Sen Sharma play the lead roles in the Nikkhil Advani-created series. The former plays the role of Dr. Kaushik Obero, the Head of Trauma Surgery at the Bombay General Hospital. In the second season, Mohit's character is shown going through a media trial and is also set to embrace parenthood with his onscreen wife, Tina Desai. Interestingly, the actor became a father earlier this year after tying the knot in January 2022.

Mohit Raina's real-life connection to onscreen parenthood

During an exclusive interaction with OTTplay, Mohit was asked if there was a point in time during the shoot if you found it difficult to detach himself from the situation as he got married just a few months ahead of the shoot. To which the actor told us, "I would say because we shot this six months after I got married, approximately. So usually, how I function or act is that at times when there's an emotion that you don't know how to tap, you go back into a memory lane and subconscious mind and try to get those moments that you cherished or lived. But this was something that I hadn't faced. Definitely, you face a lot of losses. You have seen people lose, but not someone who was so close to you."

Explaining further, Mohit added, "I had really gotten married, and there was a time when I was like, 'Oof, how should I do it? How do I go about it? What do I think about? I can't think about it.' So there was a dilemma inside me for some time. But thankfully, I was able to handle it because, as it's been, I've been working for so long. So you kind of know how to switch on and switch off."

Season Two's relatability and global appeal

When asked about his biggest takeaway from the second season of Mumbai Diaries, Mohit revealed, "Well, I think, this is my belief, people are going to relate to Season Two more than Season One because I feel the first season was based on 26/11. There were projects that were made on those; not everybody could relate to them. But floods are something we have seen everywhere. In India, if you go from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, everybody has seen it. Globally, we had floods in New York a few days ago. So I think this is a subject that will be globally accepted because people can relate to it. So I think the reach and success of this one will be higher than the previous one."
